Who's Made The Difference In Your Life?
A thankful heart is a super-conductor for God's glory. ~ Lissette Reeve
I'm thankful beyond words that this year God has been transforming me into somebody I really enjoy being around.
As We Age
It's true, that as we age, our past, present, and future begin to converge into our present. We begin to dwell more in our natural state, eternity.
Something else happens as we grow older. What's inside us, is what comes out. The veil over our lives, gets thinner and thinner.
This came home to me with a dear friend and coworker. He was an older, kind, and gentle Christian man. But as he grew older, he became as mean as a snake. Things he had been keeping a lid on for 60 years began gushing out, as he started loosing control. Control is not the answer. So deal with stuff as it comes up. Don't put it off til later. It will snowball.
Thank God For Nanny
When I was little, my grandmother, Nanny would come up to the mountains, and stay with us for months at a time. She stood tall and graceful, with her long white hair falling to her waist. Her kind smile and gentle voice was always a treat. Nanny read whole books, and not just children's stories to me. Nanny formed my character probably more than anyone else. The Grandmother in George MacDonald's Curtie Series, That could have been her. She taught me to read at 4, how to cook, and gave me her zest for life.
As my Grandmother grew older, she became sweeter, wiser, kinder, if that were possible. She was a gentle lady through and through. As her time was coming to an end, you could almost see Jesus, shinning through her, literally.
We all have giants in our lives, those who are bigger than life, those who inspire us to greatness.
Nanny is a giant in my life in whose heart I stand. She called me to be wiser, kinder. She drew the creative fire out of me and was a constant source of encouragement.
This Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for my Grandmother, Isabel Mott Mills...a breath of grace to my heart.
