"She's My Constant" ~ Lost
Lost was one of those shows you either hated or loved, sometimes both. Lost was anchored in complex relationships, but always mythic, always keeping you guessing.
So, Who's Your Constant?
We all have anchors in life. Someone or something that holds us steady in the storm--Rock Solid. Yes, there's God, but who models that sureness in your life? Who infuses you with calm confidence? Who has been the constant in your life?
We Stand On The Shoulders of Giants
Who do you have in your life, who inspires you to greatness? Beyond your wildest dreams? It could be a friend, a relative, someone you've met, a pastor, a teacher, or a mentor. Write a post, or a letter to thank that person for their investment in your life. And pass it on.
Let me give you one person out of my life, to get you started. My Uncle Mac. He was a world class painter. He had paintings in the Louvre, National Gallery of Art in DC, etc. He was also a boxer in France, and knew his wines. Uncle Mac came to know Jesus later in life. He became a Presbyterian Evangelist in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Uncle Mac was bigger than life. When he would teach me about painting, he would sweep and point and shout and whisper. One thing else, He always made paintings with Jesus smiling. Why? Because he said "they've stolen all the joy out of the Christian life." We had Uncle Mac give the Invocational Prayer at our wedding. He prayed for 5 minutes. You could feel the earth shake, and the heavens open as he prayed, " we stand in awe, in the wake of our coming King." What a marriage blessing! Uncle Mac inspires me to greatness, and infuses me with hope. Uncle Mac is a giant, on who's shoulders I stand.
So, Who's been a giant in your life? Who connects you to life, and to greatness? Be intentional. Find, and cultivate greatness. Don't settle for less.
Who Are You Inspiring?
We are all lifetime mentors. You probably just don't know it yet. Now you do. So, become aware of what you're giving out.. Inspiration, or a race to the bottom. You mentor what you are, to those around you.
Be intentional, as to what you choose, and who you choose to model. That's what you're vibrating. People may hear what you say, but they catch, what you've got.
Be moved by love.
